Handball in South Africa … Does it sounds exciting to you? And now we open the streets to create a brighter future. PLAY HANDBALL ZA has just started up a new street-project in Cape Town. Be part of Street up your Handball and help us empower kids and youth to do sports. Support the project by going to this link and give your pledge: https://www.thundafund.com/ProjectDetails.aspx?projectId=295. All pledges will be rewarded.

With Street up your Handball we seek to empower kids to join in for sports. Together with balls, goals, music and YOU we hope to bring some positive action to the streets of Cape Town. We want to create communities building on strong values such as personal responsibility, leadership and initiative minds. We are convinced that street sport possesses these values as resources for a better society. We think that there lies a hidden potential in a lot of kids and the place to show it could very well be on the streets. Therefore we have founded this project.

Beside the social and physical perspective in the sport we seek to create a sustainable concept that in the future will run through the support of sponsors. By making a sustainable concept with support and collaboration from sponsors we can focus on inclusion and ensure that children from socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods have the opportunity to play handball and do sports all year around. Our goal is to create new physical environments that can attract and affect young people.

Through establishing events and competitions we aim to build awareness, increase participation and provide a platform for raising gender issues and promote gender equality. Street up your Handball events will be known as a communal and a fun way to get involved in handball, and we kindly ask you to join in – to help making a brighter future for the South African youth!
