My Name is Jonas Ott I am 18 years old and from Ebersbach/Bünzwangen. In 2024, I graduated from Georgii-Gymnasium in Esslingen and decided to spend a year doing social volunteer service abroad. I applied for the German government’s development volunteer program weltwärts, and since September 2024, I have been volunteering for PLAY HANDBALL in Kenya.

Together with my fellow volunteer and good friend Robin Lorenz, I support the sports and youth development organization in Machakos—both in schools and in after-school programs. (more…)

Adopt-A-Club launches fundraising campaign for the Bo-Kaap Handball Club

With the start of the Christmas season, our former volunteer Philipp launched a fundraising campaign for the Bo-Kaap Handball Club with the aim of helping the players to live out their sport. Our new Adopt-A-Club project makes exactly that possible. This gives you the opportunity to support a specific local club with your donation and help us to provide sporting opportunities for children and young people in that community. The community becomes an active and safe place where children can play and fulfil their potential in sport and in life.

Dancing for a good cause, that’s what you could do at the Night of Handball. All digitally and with social distance in times of global corona crisis and at the same time being together for a common goal: to support PlayHandball. Community and social cohesion are currently more important than ever. Community is also important in handball. For this reason, Thio Remmers, Phillip Bütow, Juri Krumnick and Jan Thie from the SG Friedrichsfehn/Petersfehn decided to organise the “Night of Handball” for PlayHandball in Africa and thus collected a total of 2968.14 EUR.
