15 young handball players* from Germany, South Africa and Kenya will participate in the first virtual international encounter in developmental youth work that uses sport as a tool to achieve developmental goals (UNSDG #4.7).
The trilateral exchange aims to promote and inspire young people as multipliers, to use sport as an educational tool for sustainable development and to pass it on as youth handball development coaches* to children and young people in their environment. (more…)

Since the beginning of October, new volunteers with the weltwärts program are again on site at schools in Kenya and South Africa. “We are very happy that volunteers can support us again and that we are also allowed to resume work at the schools after the governments have relaxed the Corona restrictions,” says Nicola Scholl.
After a seminar of several days in the host country, everyone has also arrived at their assignment locations since a week ago. Whether in South Africa or Kenya, in the countryside or in the city, the enthusiastic helpers are on site for a year and support disadvantaged children and youth with and through handball. The Weltwärts program is an established federally funded program through which young adults help for a year abroad in a development context. (more…)

Hardly anything was possible on the playing fields, but in the background, things continued to swirl. With success. PlayHandball was able to enter into two new partnerships, which will help in the long term, especially in the context of training young coaches. Both the HVSH (Handballverband-Schleswig-Holstein) and the Lern Handball app could be won as partners

All digitally and with social distance in times of global corona crisis and at the same time being together for a common goal: to support PlayHandball. Community and social cohesion are currently more important than ever. Community is also important in handball. For this reason, Thio Remmers, Phillip Bütow, Juri Krumnick and Jan Thie from the SG Friedrichsfehn/Petersfehn decided to organise the “Night of Handball” for PlayHandball in Africa and thus collected a total of 2968.14 EUR.
